AT&T and Starbucks are partnering up to offer WiFi in Starbucks stores. Bottom line on this is that if you have a Starbucks purchase card you get 2 free hours of WiFi a day and after that the rate is $3.99 for each additional 2 hours. You can also purchase a plan from AT&T at $19.99 a month for unlimited access (that’s a lot of coffee drinking) that also gives you access at other AT&T hotspots as well. Current AT&T customers that “qualify” will have unlimited access.
Early words on this were that Starbucks was dumping their current arrangement with T-Mobile, but it looks like AT&T and T-Mobile have something in place to keep T-Mobile connected, according to this press release.
