Published

on

The Automatic Pro can turn your car into a smart car that tracks your mileage, your car’s location and can automatically call for help if you are in an accident. Unlike the earlier models, the Automatic Pro includes a dedicated connection so that your phone doesn’t need to be in the car to get the benefits.

For $129 and no subscription fees you can turn your car into a smart car that makes it easier to track mileage for work, know where your kids are driving and to automate tasks based on your location. The Automatic Pro can even send you a notification when your car starts and parks, which could make this an essential tool for parents with new drivers.

Installing the Automatic Pro is so simple that you can do it in about 5 seconds. All you need to do is plug it in to the diagnostic port on your car, install the app and complete software setup. You don’t need to be a mechanic or perform any permanent changes to your car. That means it’s fine for a lease, won’t impact your warranty and it’s easy to take to a new car when you upgrade.

One of the best features is crash detection, that can call for emergency services so that you get the help you need. Unlike the earlier models where your phone had to be in the car for this to work, with the Automatic Pro this happens through a dedicated connection. If there is an accident you will get an alert with an option to cancel the need for emergency services. An agent will attempt to call you, and if needed call for help. If they cannot contact you they will call emergency services to your location.

Keep in mind that for this to work the adapter cannot be damaged and it needs a GPS and cellular connection. The adapter is in the car under the dash on the driver side, so it is inside the crumple zone.

The adapter adds safety features to almost any car from 1996 and up.

With the Automatic Pro you can also see your car’s location in real time. This can help you figure out where you parked, or track where a teen drivers is at without a phone call.

The tool can also let you know why your Check Engine light is on, including what you need to do about it. If it is on for a small issue like leaving your gas lid loose, you can even reset the Check Engine Light using your phone.

There are also apps that connect to the Automatic Pro, allowing you to do more with your car without waiting for an Apple Car, buying a Tesla Model 3 or going for the fancy new built-in options on 2017 vehicles.

Business users can connect to Expensify, Freshbooks, Xero and others to simplify expensing for mileage. There is even an Automatic app to help rideshare drivers find tax savings.

Personal users can also link the Automatic apps up to pre-heat their house using Nest, avoid parking tickets with reminders from Spot Angels and many others. One of the most interesting apps is IFTTT (If This Than That) which lets you automate actions using data from the Automatic Pro.

With IFTTT you can set up actions based on completing a trip, the ignition being turned on or off, the ignition being turned on or off in a specific area and when the check engine light comes on.

The Automatic Pro works in most cars from 1996 or newer with gasoline, hybrid or diesel fuel. It does not work in electric cars. You can check your compatibility using this tool to see if the Automatic Pro works for you.

You’ll also need an iPhone 5 or newer on iOS 9 or higher and it works with most Android phones running Android 5.0 or higher. It does not work with the Alcatel One Touch Fierce or BLU brand phones.
