The Galaxy S4 Zoom, believed to the Android competitor to the Windows Phone-powered Lumia series with a focus on camera, is now said to have specs that will more closely mirror the Galaxy S4 Mini rather than the high-end specs of the Galaxy S4 flagship.
As was previously rumored, a leaked user agent profile confirms some of the specs that we had reported before about the camera phone through some leaks. The device will have a qHD resolution display with 540 X 960 pixels distributed over a 4.3-inch screen size. The device will have a 16-megapixel sensor with 10X optical zoom, though it’s still not clear if the sensor size will be a small smartphone-style sensor or a larger point-and-shoot size sensor that’s found in the Galaxy Camera.
The optical zoom will be beneficial to consumers in that there won’t be any loss of details or resolution when using the zoom when compared to digital zoom. This means you can be far away and capture an image like you were standing next to the subject.

Given that we’ve heard rumblings that the Galaxy S4 Zoom will be a slim device, we’re guessing it will be a smartphone-sized sensor. Larger sensors are preferable in that they let in more light, but the downside is that it will require more bulk, similar to the hump found on the Nokia N8 and the Nokia 808, the latter of which has a sensor even larger than those found on many point-and-shoot cameras.
The device will be powered by an ARM11 processor.
The device, along with the Galaxy S4 Active and Galaxy S4 Mini, is expected to debut soon. Samsung has a Galaxy and ATIV launch event scheduled on June 20th, so maybe we’ll see all three devices launch at that venue, though that’s unclear at this point.
