While we'd recommend someone buying the Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4 refurbished or somewhere that has that older tablet in stock, the next best thing is the new Samsung Galaxy Tab A. It's better than the budget Galaxy Tab 4 lineup, and has a decent spec sheet for only $179. Those wanting the 9.7-inch model can get one for $229 as well, but that doesn't meet our $199 price point.

The Galaxy Tab A comes with an 8-inch 720p HD display, a quad-core processor with 1.5GB of RAM, 16GB of stprage, a 5 and 2MP camera setup for photos and video calls, and runs Android 5.1 Lollipop. There's also a micro-SD slot and three color options.

Again, we'd recommend the Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4 or the Tab S instead if you can find it, otherwise this is the next best Samsung tablet for under $200.
