Instagram is one of the most popular iPhone apps of all time and it has one of the largest user bases of any photo app. Here are the best iOS 8 Cydia tweaks for Instagram.
While the latest version of iOS isn’t jailbreakable, those on older versions of iOS 8 can have the privilege of jailbreaking their devices. Apple patched up the iOS 8 jailbreak with the release of the iOS 8.4.1 update, but those who haven’t updated to iOS 8.4.1 can still jailbreak their devices.
The TaiG iOS 8 jailbreak still works on iOS 8.4.0 and older, but if you’re already jailbroken, you most likely know to stay away from the latest iOS update.
In any case, there are a ton of iOS 8 Cydia tweaks that you can download and use on your iPhone, and while many of them are catered toward improving the overall iOS experience, there are also some tweaks that focus on particular apps. In this case, there are a small handful of great jailbreak tweaks that can improve Instagram.
Instagram is already a really great app, and it’s really easy to use, but there are always ways to make it better.
Here are the best iOS 8 Cydia tweaks for Instagram.
If there’s one tweak to get for Instagram, it’s called Instagram++, as it comes with a few added features for Instagram rolled into one bundled tweak.
First off, after you install the tweak, you may notice the new “minimal” layout that it provides, giving you just the photos and nothing else. Some users may like and others may not, but you can easily switch between the minimal layout and the regular layout.
Furthermore, the tweak allows you to save photos to your iPhone, so if you see a really cool pic that someone posted, you can save it and view it later even if you don’t have an internet connection.
If Instagram++ is a bit too much for you and would rather just have that one feature where you can save Instagram photos, SaveGram is a tweak that does just that.
All you have to do is tap on the ellipses menu icon below a photo and then hit Save. The photo will save to your Photos app on your iPhone and it will even create a separate folder called “Instagram” and put your saved photos into that folder.
So not only can the tweak save photos on Instagram, but it also organizes and separates the photos that you save.
If you follow an Instagramer and get annoyed by their posts or they simply just post too often for your liking, there’s a tweak called InstaMute that allows you to mute their posts. This essentially keeps any of their posts from appearing on your main Instagram feed, but you’ll still be a follower of theirs.
All you have to do is go to the profile page of someone that you follow and then tap on the ellipses menu icon in the upper-right corner. From there, tap Mute to keep their posts off your main feed.
This is a lot like a feature that Tweetbot has, where you can mute certain users that you follow and not have any of their tweets show up in your feed, but you can continue to follow them.
Nevermind the grammatically incorrect name of the tweak, as InstaHidder comes with all sorts of cool features that can improve Instagram.
In short, the tweak allows you to hide different aspects of the Instagram user interface, as well as a few other things.
For instance, the tweak will let you hide the Suggestions section at the top of the app, as well as hide the Follow button in the header of posts. You can also change the keyboard color to black, as well as have video audio to default to ON.
