Best MacBook Pro Retina Cases and Covers
When it comes to protecting your investment, especially for those mobile users who carry a brand new MacBook Pro Retina everywhere they go, getting the best and most durable option is ideal. This isn’t a phone you paid $199 for. It’s a $1,299 or more investment, and you’ll want to protect it.
The MacBook Pro Retina is a powerful machine wrapped in the usual aluminum we’re familiar with from Apple, but it isn’t completely resistant to scratches and damage. I know from experience. Now that the new MacBook Pro Retina (both 13 and 15) released late in 2013 are readily available, and accessories are appearing by the month for these machines, a few important ones and favorites of ours have made the list. The new Retina MBP is thinner and lighter, but it still needs protection just like anything else. Well, unless you’re extremely careful and never leave the house. Get started with our review (below) then we’ll go over the accessories.

Everything from industrial and durable cases you’d never want to be seen using in public, but probably will. Polycarbonate lightweight cases that are sleek yet safe, and even a few covers and invisible shield skins all make the list, even customizable ones. If you want to protect that MacBook Pro Retina, like I do, read on for our thoughts and suggestions.

There’s plenty of excellent options readily available from a local electronics store, Best Buy, the Apple Store, and of course online. While excluded for the price, Moshi probably has the best Retina case, which is also the lightest, but it costs the most. Then, while we’re here and talking about it, you’ll want to see this $8 solution to broken MBP Chargers. It’s a simple addition to your charger cable and MagSafe connector that will have that expensive charger lasting for years, instead of going out every 8 months.
To wrap things up, if you liked the ZAGG skin protection shown above, but want a custom design made yourself, or a neat animation, check out GelaSkins for the MacBook Pro Retina. Above was just a few of the many options to protect your shiny new MacBook Pro Retina from the wear and tear of daily life. It’s better to be safe than sorry.
