Kyocera Hydro Elite

The Kyocera Hydro Elite is not as well known as Samsung, Sony and the iPhone, but it is another waterproof smartphone option that users should check out. This device is rated to survive three feet underwater for 30 minutes.

Shoppers that buy the Kyocera Hydro Elite also get the benefit of a Smart Sonic Receiver that helps block out background noise so that you can hear people when you are in a noisy area. Other features include wireless charging and an 8MP camera capable of 1080P videos.

The Kyocera Hydro Elite is free with a two year contract at Verizon. Although this is an older Android smartphone the price makes it one that many shoppers will want to consider even though the Galaxy S5 is a better option for most users.

Water proof phones are cool and all but when you know your about to be around water a zip lock bag will do a better job. Personally I’m getting the lg g3! That’s about as future proof as you can get in cell phones right now.

I would like to share my experience of a waterproof smartphone…Samsung XCover2…for two times in water and for two times broken…the problem is the usb connection that can not guarantee the impermeabilty due to the fact that you have to open it often to charge the smartphone…and now I understand why many IP67 gps whatches use a different system to recharge. I would like to find a real waterproof smartphone…can anyone help me?

Most of the Sony phones have the option of a magnetic charging cable on the side which doesn’t reduce the water resistance. The Samsung Galaxy S5 has a ~$30 official accessory which enables wireless charging so you wouldn’t have to open up a port.

I used a lifeproof case for my iPhone 5c; it got rain on it, now the touch screen doesn’t work. Useless.
