BookBook: A Leather Book Case for Your iPad Mini

Published

on

BookBook, the popular series of cases for Apple products, is now available for the iPad mini.

The BookBook by TwelveSouth protects the iPad mini from bumps and scratches and serves as a stand for the 7.9-inch tablet. Like other models of the BookBook, the iPad mini model makes the tablet looks like a vintage book when closed. With the case closed the only hint that it isn’t a vintage book is the zipper along the sides where the pages are on a normal book.

The BookBook for iPad mini can serve as a stand for the iPad mini with a few different positions. The first position uses the “covers” of the BookBook to form a wedge that makes it easy to watch movies or TV shows or play games in the iPad mini.

The second position uses a flap on the back of the leather enclosure around the iPad mini. The flap can tilt the iPad mini up for easier typing. Although typing on the small tablet is likely difficult for many users without some sort of keyboard.

TwelveSouth also claims the BookBook makes the iPad mini easy to hold with one hand without touching the screen. That means it makes the tablet easier to read books on the 7.9-inch tablet without accidentally touching the screen and turning the page.

The BookBook for iPad mini is available now for $69.99, and come in a variety of colors including Vintage Brown, Classic Black and Vibrant Red.

The BookBook is more expensive than most other iPad mini cases, but it is one of the few that’s made entirely of leather. The case costs $30 more than Apple’s iPad mini Smart Cover, and offers more protection than Apple’s solution which only covers the glass display of the 7.9-inch tablet. For those who travel a lot with their iPad mini the extra protection is likely worth the price.
