CES 2010: Mixing batteries is bad but…

Published

on

I did a whole lot of video uploading this morning, to the detriment of my iPhone’s battery. Again, tethering, which runs both wifi and 3G simultaneously, drains the battery even when it’s plugged in. Walked out with a 30-40% charge, so I tried my new NiZn batteries to recharge it. Interesting results. First, fully loaded with the NiZn, my iPhone wouldn’t pull any current. Voltage was way too high so nothing happened. However, I know all NiMh won’t recharge at that level either, so I swapped down to one NiZn and three NiMh, for total voltage of 5.2V. Working like a champ. Fully recharged in 2-3 hours and still lasting.
