Citrix steps up to support Tablet PC

It is very common for mobile professionals to connect to their company’s server and run applications either in Remote Desktop or Citrix Server. In fact, I have two clients that need to run ACT! and TimeSlips in Remote Desktop because connectivity via VPN is too slow and buggy.

There is good news for Tablet PC and Citrix users. In Citrix Presentation Server 3.0, Citrix did not support the stylus as in input device because Tablet PC had come out after Citrix 3.0. However, in MetaFrame Presentation Server 3.0 and Citrix Presentation Server 4.0, they have added support for stylus and soft keyboards. See this support page for more information.

This upgrade is server based, so Citrix users will need to contact their IT department about upgrading to Citrix 4.0 and the value it will bring them as a Tablet PC user.
