The CM4 Q-Card Wallet Case may have an odd name but it is one of the best Galaxy S6 cases around, and offers additional functionality all while protecting your new smartphone. Not only is it thin, lightweight and durable, but it also doubles as a wallet making it a great option which we’ll explain more about below.
With the Samsung Galaxy S6 now readily available around the globe from all major carriers in the United States, owners are likely looking for a nice case to protect their shiny new phone that’s made of glass and aluminum. Here we’ll tell you more details about CM4’s new wallet case for the Galaxy S6, what makes it stand out, a few potential flaws and more in our full review. They also offer one for the Galaxy S6 Edge if you took that route for the GS6.
These days cases are all over eBay, Amazon, and on the shelves of carrier stores, but rarely offer more than just some basic protection for your device. The Galaxy S6 has a beautiful 5.1-inch Quad-HD display, glass on the front and back, and is wrapped in aluminum. You’ll want to keep it protected, while getting a few added features at the same time. This isn’t your typical junk “flip wallet case” either, and below we’ll explain why.
To be completely honest I rarely use a case, and the first case I kept for my own personal device was the CM4 Q-Card case for the Galaxy S4. I recommend it for iPhone owners, used one with my Galaxy S5 for over a year, and will likely end up using this on my new Galaxy S6 as well. It isn’t too thin, not to thick, and delivers features I want and need.
CM4’s Q-Card case is more than your standard TPU and polycarbonate hard-shell case. It features a durable full-frame protection shape in an ultra slim design, and a patented soft-touch yet durable rubber and premium fabric feel. Then of course the lip curves slightly over the front of the display, and will protect that 5.1-inch screen from ever getting scratched.
The soft feel of the plastic is excellent, and the wallet aspect looks and feels like genuine leather, but isn’t. It’s some sort of fabric, but feels great. It’s soft, comfortable, easy to hold, elegant, and most importantly, offers three features in one. The first being a case, second being a wallet, and the third is a brand new ingenious integrated covert kickstand. Yes, there’s a kickstand on this phone case.
CM4’s case hugs the entire Galaxy S6 perfectly, and the buttons are some of the best on any case I’ve used lately. Often times they’re slightly off, too hard to press, and make using the power or volume buttons seem like a chore. However, they’ve made them slightly over-sized and soft, so hitting the power button or turning up/down the volume is extremely easy given the plastic design of this particular case.
All the ports and sensors are precision cut, but sadly the speaker grill on the bottom of the Galaxy S6 is so close to the edge, that it’s slightly off in order to keep the case durable. It doesn’t cover the speaker, but isn’t perfectly centered like most. This is only nit-picking and because I have OCD, but it won’t stop me from using or recommending the Q-card case with the Galaxy S6.
The case is designed so perfectly that it’s just thick enough to protect the screen, protect the bulging and protruding 16 megapixel camera lens, and the only “thickness” is the wallet aspect, which is still quite thin. Then, for the first time on any Q-card case, there’s a hidden slit in the plastic on back, where you slide a credit card or your ID inside which doubles as a kickstand. It isn’t ideal, as you don’t want your credit card numbers visible to nearby people, but the idea is ingenious, and works like a charm. It uses your own credit cards for a kickstand, and is very sturdy. I watched some Game of Thrones on the S6 using this as a stand, and received a few questions at Starbucks. In short, I love it. And a few lookers probably bought one after seeing me use it.
CM4 promises the case can comfortably hold three credit cards, plus some cash. It’s a little tight at first and three cards will be a hard fit, but after 2-3 days of usage it forms and wears in, giving you just enough grip that your cards won’t ever fall out, and you can shove a few dollar bills inside too. Essentially this is a case, a wallet, and a kickstand all in one elegant and simple solution. It comes in black, blue or gold, and costs only $39.99. I used the Galaxy S5 version for over a year, and it didn’t wear out or start being so lose that my cards fell out. So buy one comfortably knowing it’ll last.
Our only concern is the thin plastic between the micro-USB charging port, and the dedicated home button and fingerprint scanner. As you can see in the images it’s very thin, and somewhat flimsy. This is a test unit, and the final shipping product has been redesigned to offer a better more durable design, so this won’t be an issue.
Not only do I tolerate the tiny bit of added thickness, but I actually like and recommend the Q Card Case. I’ve never been one to carry a wallet, but I now can have my phone protected and carry my drivers license, debit card, and some rewards cards all-in-one. That said, if I lose my phone I’m in some serious trouble. You’re holding your life in your hands, in a sense.
At the end of the day this case is comfortable, durable, gives the user more features than a typical case, and is just an all around excellent experience. No it may not offer as much protection as some, and yes you can get something cheaper on Amazon, but for $39 you’ll enjoy all the CM4 Q-Card Galaxy S6 wallet case has to offer.
Buy one today and try out that nifty kickstand feature. Below is a slideshow of a few other wallet cases, if this isn’t what you’re looking for.
