The Destiny: The Taken King release date is finally here and you can play the new expansion on Xbox One, PS4, PS3 and Xbox 360. There is a lot of excitement for The Taken King, but there are some issues and bugs hampering players who want to get into the game.
Destiny: The Taken King problems arrived overnight as gamers started to play through the new modes, redeem codes and claim weapons and shaders. Today we are taking a look at what you need to know about these issues and bugs so you can play, don’t waste your time and don’t waste your items.
After an odd Destiny: The Taken King release date time that allowed gamers to buy the game at 12:01 AM Eastern, but not to actually play the new content until 5:01 AM Eastern we started to see some issues with the game.

Destiny: The Taken King Problems
Bungie confirmed five main Destiny: The Taken King problems on twitter, that they are investigating. These issues impact users on the Xbox 360 as well as on newer consoles like the PS4 and Xbox One.
- Xbox 360 players who wish to purchase Destiny: The Taken King ($40 USD) or the Collector’s Edition Upgrade ($60 USD) can do so via the in-game prompt on the Director. The upgrades will not be available on the Xbox Marketplace, only the Legendary Edition and the full Collector’s Edition.
- Some users are reporting that the Golden Chest count was reset on their Moments of Triumph at 2am PDT. We are actively investigating.
- We are aware of an issue that Crucible rank package display as “Vanguard”. These are, in fact, Crucible packages and will give Crucible rewards.
- The Suros Arsenal weapons and Vanguard Weapon Pack Items can be found at the Vanguard Quartermaster, located in the Tower Hangar.
- The Digital Collector’s Edition Upgrade ($20) may not be available for purchase at this time. We are aware of this issue and are actively investigating.

Fix Requires Taken King Error
We are hearing from users on PS4 and Xbox One who cannot play the game. After the cinematic trailer they see an error that states, “Requires Taken King” and they cannot progress.

If you are on the Xbox One, you should go to the store and install every part of the bundle. One user on Reddit said this fixed the problem. Another suggest is to put the on screen selection on Destiny, press the menu button, choose manage game, then Install.
Destiny: The Taken King Bubble Glitch
On the PS4 and Xbox One users report that when a bubble pops the game crashes and players lose progress. You can see this happen in the video below.
You may be able to fix this Taken King problem by switching your options. One user reports it is linked to, “having weapons of light and another option active at the same time.”, but he is unable to offer the exact combination.
Moments of Triumph Golden Chests Problems
As confirmed above another major Destiny: The Taken King problem is that some users who completed Moments of Triumph early lost progress and see a 0 out of 20 Golden Chests Count. On Reddit a Bungie employee confirms, “We are aware of this issue and currently investigating.”

While there is no fix and Bungie does not include specific instructions, many users are taking screenshots for proof that they completed the tasks.
