The Destiny: The Taken King release date is finally here and in no time at all you can start playing the latest chapter in Destiny.
One year after the original release, gamers are preparing to start on new quests and higher level caps as well as an exciting new Destiny Raid that is coming in the near future.
The Destiny: The Taken King release arrives on PS4, Xbox One, PS3 and Xbox 360 as a digital download and on disc for users who are new to Destiny or who need all the earlier Destiny Expansions.

Destiny: The Taken King Release Date
The Destiny: The Taken King release date is September 15th, one year after the original Destiny release date. Updated with the 2 AM Pacific Time digital start to Destiny: The Taken King.
You can buy Destiny: The Taken King on disk or as a digital download and there is an option to buy the full game or just an upgrade, depending on what you want or need.
There is an exclusive strike mission for PS4 and PS3 and a new location only for PS4 owners. Bungie also adds new Exotic Destiny weapons like the Jade Rabbit rifle with scope and a level 20 armor set exclusive to the PS4.
In addition to buying the game, there is also a special edition Destiny: The Taken King PS4 bundle with a white Destiny themed PS4 for $399.99.
Install Destiny 2.0 Now
If you are a huge fan of Destiny, you probably already installed the Destiny 2.0 update. For those of you who haven’t yet done this, you should take the time to see what’s new in Destiny 2.0 and to start the download.
Right after the update went live we saw Destiny 2.0 download problems. While these should be mostly over, you can expect to see more people trying to download this update during the new release, and it is also a hefty update so it will take some time to download.

For gamers who are new to Destiny, the Destiny: The Taken King Legendary Edition is $59.99 and is available on disc with Destiny, the previous expansions and The Taken King.
For $20 more there is a Destiny: The Taken King Digital Collector’s Edition which includes early access to the Vangaurd Weapons pack that arrives next year.
The physical Destiny: The Taken King Collector’s Edition includes small real world collectibles and the same digital items as the editions above.
Destiny: The Taken King Trade-in and Upgrade Offer
A Destiny trade in is not worth much now, but GameStop offers a trade-in bonus if you are going to buy Destiny: The Taken King Legendary Edition.
That makes the upgrade the same price as the digital version that you can buy for $39.99. The Destiny trade-in offer to trade-up to Destiny: The Taken King is available from today through September 21st.
This is only available at GameStop and only when you buy Destiny: The Taken King Legendary Edition. This may prove to be a great way to get Destiny on your current console if you’ve upgraded or switched.
Destiny: The Taken King Deals
You can save on Destiny: The Taken King through several retailers, but you won’t save a ton, even though the base game is a year old. Here are the Destiny: The Taken King deals you need to know about.

Midnight Destiny: The Taken King Release Date Events
There are not many places to go to get the new Destiny game at midnight. The Many GameStop locations are open for a midnight Destiny: The Taken King release date event, but you need to check to verify that your store is participating.
The midnight release actually comes early to users on the West Coast thanks to a simultaneous release across all time zones starting at 12:01 AM Eastern, so you can buy the game at GameStop at 9:01 PM today.

If you buy digitally, you can pre-load and start playing at 2 AM Pacific, 5 AM Eastern.
Destiny King’s Fall Release Date
There is one more Destiny release date to look forward to this month. The King’s Fall release date arrives on September 18th. This is a new Destiny raid that you need Destiny: The Taken King to play.
You can start playing this at 10 AM Pacific, 1 PM Eastern on Friday. You’ll join a six person raid party in the new Dreadnaught location.
