Deustsche Telekom Begins Taking iPhone 5 Reservations

On Monday, Deutsche Telekom, the parent company of T-Mobile USA, has begun offering its subscribers the ability to reserve and pre-order Apple’s next-generation iPhone smartphone. According to carrier spokesperson Alexander von Schmettow, the move by the carrier will help to ease supply bottleneck as Deutsche Telekom anticipates that there will be shortages of the popular flagship device when it initially launches.

The iPhone 5 has been rumored, speculated, and talked about for a while now, drumming up even more interest as many people are either looking to upgrade their older iPhone models or upgrade from another smartphone platform. iOS 5 brings a lot of new features, including improved notifications, deeper Twitter integration, and other features that help to make the platform more competitive against rival Android OS.

Additionally, there’s been debate about a new form factor change with the iPhone 5. Earlier rumors suggested that Apple would offer a mild refresh with the next generation iPhone, dubbing it an iPhone 4S that would maintain the overall aesthetics of the iPhone 4, but newer speculations suggest that the next iPhone will bring a new design to the flagship smartphone.

Whatever the case may be, von Schmettow says that Deutsche Telekom will offer reservation coupons to customers who explicitly state they are looking forward to upgrading to the next iPhone, though the carrier didn’t specify which model that would be–if it’s an iPhone 4S or iPhone 5.
