Everyone is still anxious to see how well Intel’s Atom chipset is really going to perform once we start seeing it in a range of devices. Intel’s roadmap has both single core and dual core flavors planned. It looks like we might be waiting a little longer to find out about the dual core version though. Apparently the dual core Atom 330, which will run at 1.6GHz same as the single core, will debut on September 21, but won’t actually begin shipping until the 4th quarter. Some interesting info on prices yields that the single core variety will sell for $23 and the dual core for $43. For those playing the ultra-low cost game, that’s a pretty steep difference.
