Everything Everywhere Launching 4G LTE a Day Before iPhone 5 Launch

Everything Everywhere, the carrier partnership between Orange and T-Mobile in the U.K., will hold a launch event for its new 4G LTE network the day before Apple will launch its new iPhone 5.

According to SlashGear Everything Everywhere will hold the event on September 11. At the event the joint carrier will detail its plans for launching 4G LTE. The company could even announce that its 4G LTE network is already available in some markets.

Everything Everywhere convinced Ofcom, the U.K. telecom regulator, to allow it to build out a 4G LTE back in August. The decision angered other carriers in the country, but it means U.K. users will soon have an option for a 4G LTE network should they want to use it.

The timing of the event is perfectly planned for the iPhone 5. Everything Everywhere will announce the 4G LTE details on September 11, and Apple will launch the new iPhone 5 on September 12. It is widely believed that Apple will bring 4G LTE to the next generation iPhone, which will likely make it one of the first 4G LTE phones on Everything Everywhere’s network.

The U.K. carrier plans to use the 1800MHz spectrum for its 4G LTE network. The radios inside the iPad Wi-Fi + Cellular don’t support that spectrum. That means Apple will need to use a different mobile radio in the iPhone 5 to support the new network. No U.S. carriers use that frequency for 4G LTE. If the trend continues, it will be difficult to buy unlocked 4G LTE phones unless their radios cover a wide range of frequencies.
