Finally in FIFA 16 my team mates make space on offense opening up passes so I don't need to try to dribble through midfield all by myself. These AI upgrades are very welcome after an often useless midfield in FIFA 15.

On the offense there is a better spread of players as you work your way downfield, but there are also defensive upgrades that even out the overall play and make midfield important again.

Defenders are smarter in midfield as well, placing themselves in positions to intercept more passes, which puts more pressure on the offense to pass smarter.
