First Nexus 7 Commercial Goes Camping
The Google Nexus 7 is sold out across the U.S., but that won’t stop Google from releasing a new, adorable commercial for the 7-inch tablet.
In the first commercial for the Nexus 7, Google brings the new tablet camping. Well, it almost goes camping. In the video a father brings his son in the wilderness and uses the tablet to learn about a frog they caught, trick his kid into thinking there are dinosaurs in the woods, as a make-shift flashlight, and as a compass.
The commercial also shows off the media capabilities of the device, with the father and son reading The Little Prince and watching The Lorax on the tablet.

It’s a cute commercial overall, but it has one flaw: it doesn’t note that users need Wi-Fi. The commercial works around this by showing the father and son are just in the backyard the entire time. Users can also use a smartphone for tethering, or a mobile hotspot, but it still seems odd to show users with what we assume are data-reliant apps out in the wilderness, even if they’re just outside a house.

That doesn’t take away from how cute the commercial is, but it does make people familiar with the tablet wonder how the father can pull up all the data that appears in the commercial.
Either way, it’s an interesting way to market a new tablet, now if only Google had enough 16GB models to go around.
