First Spotting of ASUS R2E and Full Specs

ASUS R2EMPCTimes has apparently gotten a sample of the ASUS R2E and posted a few pictures of it compared to an R2H. But that’s it – a few pictures! Given 10 minutes with an ASUS R2E and a camera, I think I could come up with more than confirming it indeed has HSDPA cellular capability and it looks just the same as the previous model.

On paper, the ASUS R2E seems like a great fit for what I want in my next toy productivity tool. ASUS has finally posted the full specs on their website for the R2E. Key points for me:

  • Intel ® Stealeyâ„¢ Processor A110 : 800 GHz 400MHz FSB, 512K L2 cache
  • Vista Business
  • HSDPA

Interestingly, I don’t see the GPS mentioned below, but it definitely shows a GPS antenna in the pictures. The way the memory is described seems to imply that you can do 2GB of RAM, which would be great, but I was not expecting.
