I can put my mobile office in a carry-on bag and work from pretty much anywhere, but some people require a tad more equipment to get the job done. I stopped by the Microsoft booth at CES 2010 to check out computers, but ran into what has to be a contractor’s dream mobile office. DeWalt tricked out a Ford pickup that’s equipped with Ford Work Solutions.
This Ford pickup is outfitted with an in-dash PC that can be used to check email, get online, generate estimates, print invoices and log in to your PC with Log Me In. The computer has a touchscreen display that can control all of the purpose-built applications. A GPS, Bluetooth and 3G module are all part of the system and an HP Printer can be installed beneath the arm rest of the Ford.
