The Samsung Galaxy S4 Mophie Juice Pack is now available, bringing the charging solution offered to iPhone and Galaxy S3 users to those who own the Samsung Galaxy S4.
The new Mophie Juice Pack for the Samsung Galaxy S4 is available from Mophie, shipping in one to two days for $99.
This Galaxy S4 battery case contains a 2,300 mAh battery which the company claims can deliver 80% of extra power to the Galaxy S4.
The Mophie Galaxy S4 case comes in white and black, to match the main color options available in the U.S. In addition to offering more battery life, the Galaxy S4 case protects the device from drops and scratches.
Users can control charging with a switch on the back of the case and can check how much battery life is left by tapping a small button to see battery life shown in LED lights.
The case slides on to the Galaxy S4 connecting directly to the Micro USB connection on the bottom of the Galaxy S4. Users can charge the phone and the Mophie Juice Pack at the same time by plugging in a standard Micro USB cable. Unlike the iPhone version, users can connect the Galaxy S4 to a computer while the case is attached.
All this battery life doesn’t come without a trade-off. The Mophie Juice Pack for the Galaxy S4 doubles the thickness of the phone to .66-inch when on the phone. Users can remove the case when they don’t need power to cut down on the bulk.
Mophie recommends using the Galaxy S4 Juice Pack to charge from 20% up to 80 to 100% for the best charging experience, rather than using it to keep the iPhone fully charged all the time.
The Galaxy S4 Mophie Juice Pack retails for $99 direct from Mophie and could show up on Amazon with a discount in the near future. Amazon sells other Mophie cases there for about $30 off retail.
The Samsung Galaxy S4 features a removable back that lets users swap in a new battery to keep going without the bulk of a case, but users will still need to carry that battery around in a bag or pocket.
Samsung sells a spare Galaxy S4 battery for $39.99 but does not currently offer a Galaxy S4 extended battery option.
