Gmail for Android Improved, Gets Priority Inbox

on

Google’s released a new version of the Gmail app in the Android Market that has a number of improvements. Since the app is available in the market, Android users don’t have to wait for major system updates to get new Gmail features.

The interface has been revamped, allowing users to star or reply to messages while scrolling through messages, rather than having to navigate back up top. The new app also allows users to quickly view quoted text so you can put a long thread in context.

The new Gmail app also has limited Priority Inbox support, allowing users to quickly scan through their most important unread messages. An “Important” shortcut can be added to your smartphone’s homescreen for quick access.
