Google Nexus 7 Tablet Pre-Orders Ready for Pickup at Gamestop
Continuing the bizarre Google Nexus 7 release, Gamestop now has the go ahead to sell the Nexus 7 tablet.
Gamestop reached out to let GottaBeMobile know that users that pre-ordered the Google Nexus 7 can head in to their Gamestop location to pick it up today.
This is great news for Gamestop buyers, but disappointing for those who are still waiting for pre-orders to ship from Google.
Most of Gamestop’s Nexus 7 tablet stock is on hold for users who pre-ordered the device, but the company says, “There may be some very limited quantities” available to purchase.
Users who don’t get in on the limited quantities can take part in the new Nexus 7 pre-order at Gamestop for delivery by August 7th. To pre-order for the next delivery of the Nexus 7, stop in at the closest Gamestop.
This marks the first official Google Nexus 7 release, and it seems fitting that Gamestop is the first place users can grab the device at retail considering the role Gamestop could play in promoting the tablet.
There’s still no word on Office Depot’s Google Nexus 7 release. The retailer sent an email out this morning with a link to the Nexus 7 on Office Depot’s website, but it’s only for pre-order. No word on when Office Depot will sell the Nexus 7 in stores.
The Nexus 7 includes $25 in Google Play credit to give users a start on finding Android games. The Nexus 7 is the first Android tablet with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, Google’s latest version of Android.
Stay tuned for our Google Nexus 7 review and comparisons to the iPad and Kindle Fire in the next few days.

Was hoping that the Google pre-orders would be shipped first, seeing as how its a Google product. That’s a let-down.

This blows!! I pre-ordered it the minute it was available on Google Play and I’m not getting it first????

That’s what I’m saying!! I don’t see how it’s fair to loyal customers who were willing to pay full price, straight from Google.

how disappointing. pre-orders to be shipped later than retailers. In other news, White Castle will not be selling their burgers to their customers waiting at the door. Instead they will repackage them and sell them in the 7-11’s first, THEN sell them to those waiting at the door.

What the hell. I preordered mine on June 27th, and gamestop has their Nexus 7’s available to buy before Google? Google dropped the ball on this one.

I am sorely disappointed in Google. Not just for being late. But because there seems to be no point in pre-ordering in the first place, given that I could have saved shipping and still gotten the $25 Google Play credit.
With tax, here in Canada, Google’s shipping charges come to $21.47. Google is effectively making it’s own customers pay $21.47 more for absolutely no reason.
I’ll let it slide this time. But I won’t be pre-ordering from Google Play ever again.

I pre-ordered mine online and it has not shipped yet and my card has not been charged. They are in all the stores near me and I can not get mine. Disappointing.

Staples had canceled my pre-order so I pre-ordered from Ofice Depot. Office depot canceled my pre-order then Staples sent me an emailing saying they shipped my tablet and it’s arriving Monday July 16. I have UPS tracking numbered that confirms Monday.
