The iPhone 4S Jailbreak work continues on a number of fronts, and one of the biggest players is an iPhone hacker named pod2g, who has been at the forefront of recent iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S jailbreaking efforts.
pod2g played a big role in the release of an untethered iOS 5.0.1 jailbreak for the iPhone 4 and iPad, and now he is working with the iPhone Dev team and the Chronic Dev Team to bring us closer to an iPhone 4S jailbreak release date.
According to pod2g’s recent postings, both @MuscleNerd and @p0sixninja are both working on issues with the iPhone 4S jailbreak and ultimately towards a public release of a jailbreak for the iPhone 4S and iPad 2.
pod2G also shares the following answers to the common iPhone 4S jailbreak questions. Questions we hear a lot in the comments and on Twitter from impatient iPhone 4S owners like myself.
How could pod2g have an untethered 4S and dev teams still haven’t released tools to achieve this at home?
The exploit I used to inject the untethering files to the 4S relies on having a developer account, and can’t be released publicly. It’s the same reason why @MuscleNerd has an iPad 2 tethered jailbreak but couldn’t distribute it.So, we need to find a distributable exploit to remount the system partition read/write and to set Corona files at the correct places.
Why A4 version of Corona was easier to release?Because a tethered jailbreak is a good way to install Corona!
Why don’t you do a tethered jailbreak then?A tethered jailbreak also relies on an exploitable vulnerability that we still haven’t found yet!
There’s still work to be done before you can jailbreak your iPhone 4S, but until then, why not update to iOS 5.0.1 before it’s too late and read 18 reasons I’m excited about the iPhone 4S jailbreak.
