Cloud-based computing is fast becoming an integral part of daily life. JKOnTheRun’s Kevin Tofel has taken the web-only challenge to demonstrate how Cloud-based services can eventually replace installed applications. Although working in the Cloud is especially useful for the emerging netbook market with very small SSD drives and limited processors, questions remain regarding the Clouds’ utility for the rest of the mobile market, especially in terms of security and standardization. Gartner Consulting, a technology analyst company, was interviewed by InforWorld and brought up some very interesting points regarding Cloud-based services in this article.
