When it comes to browsing the web on our Android devices there’s tons of options readily available. From the stock browser, Google Chrome, Dolphin Browser and more.
We all browse the web almost daily on our smartphones, but for those who’d rather not have to open the stock Galaxy S4 browser and type in that one favorite website of yours (GottaBeMobile) there’s a few tricks that can make it easier and quicker. Having certain sites bookmarked is one thing, but making an icon right on your Galaxy S4 homescreen that will instantly open the launcher and direct you to your favorite site is what we’re showing you here today.
Average smartphone users or first time buyers probably don’t know this simple and easy trick, but it sure makes browsing websites a lot easier. Using Google Chrome, or even the stock Galaxy S4 browser, you can instantly add an icon to the homescreen of your favorite websites as a shortcut for instant access.
It’s extremely simple, and almost the same for multiple browsers if you’re not a fan of the built-in “Internet” app on the Galaxy S4. Read on to find out how to add your own.
This process is actually dead simple on the Galaxy S4, and only takes a few taps. While you’re using the Internet app (stock web browser) simply tap the menu button to the left of your home button, then in the popup menu select “Add a shortcut” and that’s it. (As shown in the image above)
From here you’ll see Gotta Be Mobile, or the site you’re currently viewing appear in a quick and easy to access shortcut on your homescreen. One click and the browser instantly opens and direct to your site of choice.
Alternatively this same process is relatively easy for Google’s own Chrome Browser, which is what most Android owners use. As shown below you’ll start by hitting settings and “Add to homescreen” which will give you the option to name the shortcut. Once finished tap “Add” and it’ll instantly be on your homescreen ready for use.
You can also long-press the homescreen and add a bookmark that way on select version of Android or from other manufacturers, but this was mainly geared at Galaxy S4 users. The same process works for almost all Galaxy smartphones and tablets, so give it a try if needed.
It isn’t anything fancy, but this is just one more way users can be more efficient using the Galaxy S4 or a smartphone of choice. Now get to bookmarking your favorite mobile sites like ours, Reddit, Buzzfeed, and everything else that’s important to you.
