This is how to customize the iPhone 7 home button. You can change how it feels when you click the iPhone 7 home button so that you know that you’ve actually pressed the new glass button.
Apple talked on stage about how customizable the iPhone 7 home button is. The company specifically mentions that the iPhone 7 home button’s solid state home button can use the Taptic Engine to deliver different feelings for Quick actions, Messages, Notifications and Ringtones. There is even support for third party access to the Taptic Engine.

Right now you can only change the iPhone 7 home button to control how much taptic feedback you feel when pressing it.
Unlock your iPhone 7 and then tap on Settings -> General -> Home Button -> Now choose 1, 2 or 3 on the screen.
When you tap on the option you can then push the home button to feel the feedback that you get when using these three options.
That’s all you can really do to customize the iPhone 7 home button at this time. We may see Apple add in new options with an iOS 10 update or potentially interesting options come with an iOS 10 jailbreak.
We do know that developers can now use the Taptic Engine that is part of the iPhone 7 home button inside of other apps. This means that you will soon be able to download apps updated for the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus that can deliver new forms of feedback. We’re waiting to find these new iPhone apps and will add them to this guide when they arrive.
