Activision and Treyarch are ready to let you play the Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 beta with an early arrival of the Black Ops 3 beta token for many gamers. Here is how to download the PS4 Black Ops 3 beta right now, including where to find the Beta token and what you can do with the two extra PS4 Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 beta download codes.
The Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 beta starts now for the PlayStation 4, a full week before the Xbox One and PC version. Originally Activision told gamers that the beta would not start until codes rolled out in batches at 12:01 AM Pacific, or 3:01 AM Eastern, but this evening Activision and Treyarch started emailing out the PS4 Black Ops 3 download tokens that gamers need to start playing.
Even though the Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 beta tokens are here, there are still many things you should not expect from the Black Ops 3 beta — like playing at midnight if you have a slow connection. The Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 beta download is 12.3GB on the PS4, plus an additional beta patch that downloads at the same time. On a fast home connection wired to our router the PS4 estimates a seven hour wait for the download to complete.
Here is how to download the PS4 Black Ops 3 beta and start playing without waiting until midnight, if your connection is fast enough and you are in the first wave of codes. We pre-ordered in late July and received our PS4 BLOPS 3 beta download tokens at 7 PM Eastern.
Where to Find Your PS4 Black Ops 3 Tokens
With your Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 pre-order you get three PS4 Black Ops 3 beta tokens, allowing you to download the beta and to invite two friends.
If you don’t see the email in your inbox, it might be in your spam folder. The email is from Call of Duty, [email protected], and the subject is Your Black Ops 3 Beta Token is Inside.
Search for this in the email you used to register for the Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 beta. If you don’t have a code, make sure you registered for the beta on Activision.
How to Download the PS4 Black Ops 3 Beta
This is how to download the PS4 Black Ops 3 beta right now, without waiting for midnight. You will need your code, so if you don’t see it in your email you may need to wait for your turn, or you can reach out to Activision for support.
Turn on your PS4 and go to the PlayStation Store.
In the PlayStation Store scroll down to Redeem Codes.
Enter the 12-digit PS4 Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 beta token using the keypad.
On the next screen choose confirm to redeem the code. This is the last step to claim your download, but you are not done.
On this screen choose Download, so you can start the PS4 Black Ops 3 download. This will also start a PS4 Black Ops 3 beta patch with some fixes. The patch downloaded fast, but the PS4 BLOPS 3 Beta is a 12.3GB download that will take some time to complete.
You can check the progress of your PS4 Black Ops 3 download in Notifications Downloads.
If possible it is a good idea to plug-in to your router or directly to the modem to get the best download speeds.
You can share the other PS4 Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 beta tokens with friends so that they can join you. These are only good on the PS4. There is no PS3 beta and the Xbox One and PC beta will require different tokens when that one starts.
Black Ops 3 Release Date
The Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 release date is November 6th. This is a Friday and Treyarch explains that this is timed to allow gamers to set aside a weekend to enjoy and immerse themselves in the game without the looming arrival of work that a traditional Tuesday release entails.
Gamers can pre-order Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 on disc or digital now, with multiple versions of the game available. If you choose not to pre-order you will have no trouble finding a game on the release date, unless you want a special edition.
The Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 release date arrives simultaneously for Xbox One, PS4, PC, PS3 and Xbox 360. The PS3 and Xbox 360 version of Black Ops 3 comes from another developer and will not include all the same features and upgrades.
Standard versions of Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 start at $59.99 and go up to $199.99 for a special edition. There is also a Season Pass for $49.99 with access to DLC content in 2016. The PS4 gets DLC content a month ahead of the Xbox One.
