Although Bungie now lets anyone download the Destiny beta without a pre-order, there are some restrictions that are still in place. For gamers who pre-ordered there is a little anger over opening up the Destiny beta to all, so you may want to avoid chat in the game unless you are in a party.
Destiny did not announce how many players are already in the Destiny beta, but during the downtime we saw over 100,000 players waiting to get into the Destiny beta. However many players are in the game, it’s not enough for Bungie to really stress test the system.

During the beta Bungie tested and fixed some networking issues, and certainly monitored other items to look for improvements that need made before the official Destiny release this fall. If all goes well this is when gamers will see errors and not this fall like with Battlefield 4 and GTA 5 Online.
It’s not clear if the new Destiny beta players without a pre-order can collect the special beta emblem and rewards on Saturday, but it seems very likely. At 2 PM Pacific, 5PM Eastern Bungie is offering a special emblem to players who join the Destiny beta for a major stress test.
How to Get Destiny Beta Without Pre-Order
If you want to play the Destiny beta without a pre-order you can no go into the store on your console and download the Destiny beta. This is a large download and in most cases you’ll experience a dual-download that takes place in two parts. If you are abel to start this a few hours before you plan to play, that is the best.
You need a PlayStation Plus account or a Xbox Live account to access the Destiny beta without a pre-order. If you own an Xbox 360 without a hard drive you can also not play the Destiny beta.

After the PS4 and PS3 Destiny beta download completes launch the game and it will download another large file before you can play.
For the Xbox One and Xbox 360 you can go to the Marketplace to download the game. You can visit online to download the Destiny beta to your Xbox 360 without a pre-order. On the Xbox One you can search Apps & Games for the Destiny beta and start the download. On the Xbox One, do not try to launch the game when it first says you can.
