Most of you will just want to sit and wait for the iOS 6 update to arrive OTA or through iTunes.
However, for those of you that don’t like to sit around and wait for iOS 6 to arrive, you have the option of downloading the iOS 6 update directly, bypassing the iTunes servers completely.
Maybe it’s because you have a bad connection, maybe you don’t want to install this very moment, or maybe you’re just impatient. Whatever the case may be, there is a way to download iOS 6 directly and we want to help you through the process.
First, you’re going to want to download the latest version of iTunes. You can do that through Apple’s website which provides a link to download iTunes 10.7.
Once you have the latest version of iTunes up and running, you’ll then want to download the appropriate version of iOS 6 for your device whether it’s an iPhone 3GS or new third-generation iPad.
- iPhone 5 GSM (AT&T)
- iPhone 5 CDMA (Sprint, Verizon)
- iPhone 4S
- iPhone 4 GSM (AT&T)
- iPhone 4 CDMA (Sprint, Verizon)
- iPhone 3GS
- iPad 3rd-generation (GSM, CDMA, WiFi)
- iPad 2 (GSM, CDMA, WiFi)
- iPod touch 4th-generation
- iPod touch 5th-generation
So, select the one that you need and make sure you download it to somewhere easily accessible like the Desktop.
Open up iTunes 10.7 and click on the ‘Check for Update’ button with the Option button (Mac) or the Shift button (PC) pressed down. Once you do that, you’ll be prompted and you’ll want to select the file that you just downloaded. That’s why it’s important to put it in a spot that’s easily accessible.
For those that are worried about the process, you may just be better off waiting for the update to download and install. However, for those that want to get it quick, this is an option that’s on the table.
Let us know how it goes and enjoy iOS 6.
