How to Watch the Oscars: Time, Channel & Nominees

Published

on

The Oscars take place later tonight, and if you want to catch all of the action, here’s how to watch the Oscars live.

Winning an Oscar is one of the highest honors that an actor or actress can receive, and this year many great stars are nominated to receive one.

However, not only do the actors and actresses get their chance to shine, but the movies themselves are up for some big awards, like Best Picture and Best Animated Film.

If you’ll be home to watch the Oscars, you can catch the ceremony tonight starting at 7pm ET on ABC, and since it’s airing on ABC, you won’t need cable to view the show. Instead, you’ll simply need an over-the-air antenna.

However, if you won’t be home to watch the festivities, you can still watch the ceremony on your computer or on your mobile device.

2016 Oscars Live Stream

The only way to watch the Oscars live on your computer is by going to ABC’s website where it will be streaming the awards ceremony, as well as give you access backstage and even the red carpet.

Unfortunately, taking advantage of Watch ABC requires having a cable subscription, and live streaming is only available in select markets around the US, including Chicago, Fresno, Houston, Los Angeles, New York City, Philadelphia, Raleigh-Durham and San Francisco.

This was the case when the Grammy Awards were on, and those who wanted to stream it had to be in a specific market, but there wasn’t a requirement for needing a cable subscription. Instead, a paid subscription to CBS All Access was required.

You can also stream the Oscars on your mobile device using the Watch ABC app for iOS, Android, and Windows devices.

However, just as with ABC.com on your computer, you’ll need a cable subscription that you can verify in order to take advantage of the live streaming capabilities.

Also, Watch ABC on mobile is only available in select areas in the US as well. Hopefully ABC spreads availability in the future, but if you’re outside a major city, you’re pretty much out of luck.
