HTC One M10 Release Date Rumors Disappoint

Published

on

For 2016 HTC is set to release an all-new completely redesigned HTC One M10. In recent weeks we’ve received a lot of details thanks to leaks and rumors, which promise a great alternative to the Galaxy S7 or LG G5. And now recently, a release date has surfaced that will disappoint many potential buyers.

Multiple leaks and rumors are painting a clear picture regarding what’s coming. The HTC One M10 could be the best smartphone from HTC yet. With a beautiful redesign, a front fingerprint scanner like Samsung and Apple, improved camera and more, but now we have bad news.

The company has struggled in recent years with the HTC One series, most notably the HTC One M9 which looked nearly identical to the One M8 the year prior. And while that system works for Apple, it failed miserably for HTC. This year they’re changing things up with a promising new phone. Below is the first leaked image claiming to be the HTC One for 2016.

The new HTC One may not be called the M10 this year, and could be come with a completely different name in an effort to separate itself from the failed M9 from 2015. For now though, we’ll have to wait and see. The name isn’t important though, it’s what it offers and when the phone arrives that buyers want to know. Not only that, but this week HTC teased the “powerof10” suggesting the phone will indeed be called the HTC One M10.

Update: The newest teaser photo comes right from HTC themselves, suggesting the #powerof10 on Twitter.

That somewhat confirms it will still be called the HTC One M10, but that’s all HTC was willing to share. No announcement for an event was made, nor any other details about this phone. One thing we can take away from the tweet, is that it will have curved and chamfered edges around the beautiful all aluminum design. See for yourself.

This is all HTC is willing to share at this point. Likely in an effort to steal some limelight away from Samsung’s Galaxy S7 and LG G5. Below is the latest information based on leaks and rumors.

According to countless leaks and rumors the HTC One for 2016 will have a slightly bigger 5.1-inch 2560 x 1440 Quad-HD display, a powerful 8-core Snapdragon 820 processor with 3-4GB of RAM, 32GB of storage with a micro-SD slot, a bigger battery, and a much improved 12 “ultrapixel” camera similar to the iPhone 6s or upcoming Galaxy S7 and more.

Then we’re hearing it will feature an improved all aluminum design, and a front fingerprint scanner that looks like a mix between the button on Samsung devices, and Apple’s iPhone. Blending the two to look slightly different, while offering improved security, features and more. It all sounds pretty great, but if it arrives too late many could buy something else.

Initial rumors earlier this month claimed the HTC One would be released sometime in April, which is the same time-frame as the HTC One M9 from 2016. However, famed and typically accurate leakster @evleaks has bad news. His sources state it won’t arrive until May.

Blass states the HTC One M10 won’t be available in the United States until May 9th, which is nearly two months later than the early March release date for the Galaxy S7. This would be the latest HTC smartphone launch in recent years, which could disappoint many HTC fans.

However, he then goes on to share some other exciting news. That being a rumor that an HTC smartwatch will be available before the end of April. HTC has been working on a smartwatch for nearly two years, but never released anything to compete with the Moto 360, Apple Watch, or other alternatives.

For now we’ve all but confirmed the new HTC One will be announced in mid-March at an event hosted by HTC. This is where users can expect the HTC One (M10) to be revealed alongside a new smartwatch and potentially other gadgets like the HTC Vive VR headset. The smartwatch could be released in late April, but the smartphone won’t hit the US until May.

This is far later than many expected, especially considering the HTC One M9 was announced AND released in March on the same day last year. This could be due to the redesign of the phone, or to release the phone after Samsung’s release to not overshadow its new phone. We don’t have all the details yet, but as March nears expect more information to surface about both the new phone from HTC, and its smartwatch.

Why will it disappoint? HTC are verifying that the phone have chamfered edges and is cut by laser. That’s it. I prefer geometric design to all these rounded edges on the LG G5 and the HTC A9. I have a feeling that HTC won’t let us down about the stereo speakers. Who wants to wear earphones when you’re watching a video clip in bed? Or when gaming? Their picture proves that the phone won’t be like the A9
