This week the HTC One M9 release date finally arrived for those in Taiwan, but sadly we’ve yet to get an actual release date for those in the United States, until now. Since the March 1st announcement we’ve heard countless rumors, seen a few leaks, and now HTC finally made it all official. The HTC One M9 release date is next month.
On March 1st HTC took the stage at Mobile World Congress and announced its new HTC One M9. The smartphone was leaked countless times before the reveal, so there were no surprises when it was revealed. And while many expected it to be released on the same day, like they did with the HTC One M8 last year, that wasn’t the case this year, but now we know when it’s coming in the United States.
HTC confirmed the new One M9 release date is “mid-March” but that was all they had to say on March 1st. However, today they’re hosting a live stream on YouTube talking about the new HTC Uh-Oh protection, and now they’ve revealed the release date. The HTC One M9 will be released at individual times from each major US carriers, but it all kicks off on April 10th.
Today is the 18th of the month, and what many would consider “Mid-March” which was the release date window HTC gave the press earlier this month. However, that was just for Taiwan and other parts of the world, and those in the United States will have to wait a little longer.
Jason Mackenzie, President at HTC, took a moment today during the live stream to finally announce the official HTC One M9 release date in the United States. Earlier this month all four major US carriers confirmed they’d carry the device, but none gave an actual date. Verizon said Q2, and the rest said coming soon or coming this spring. So when will it actually arrive on your carrier? We’re not sure.
Mackenzie stumbled on the question a little bit, but in the end confirmed the HTC One M9 release date in the United States will start off on April 10th, but didn’t confirm which carrier that will be. Meaning that at least one carrier in the United States will offer it on April 10th, the same day as the Galaxy S6 release date, but that’s all we know thus far. That could be Verizon, who was first last year, or possibly AT&T which was the model that first leaked on Best Buy back at the end of February.
All said and done we still don’t have a solid set of details, but prospective buyers just need to know that the United States launch will kick off on or around April 10th, and surely we’ll learn more as that date nears. Each carrier will make their own announcements, confirm dates, open up pre-orders and more, but April 10th is the official HTC One M9 release date for the US.
Last week one retailer leaked a March 25th release date, but that clearly isn’t accurate. It’s possible that HTC could release the unlocked international model on HTC.com come March 25th, but those wanting it from their respective carrier will have to wait until at least April 10th.
