HTC One M9+ Rumors Ignite as Release Nears

Just a few short weeks ago HTC took the stage and announced the brand new HTC One M9 smartphone. Following months of rumors, leaks and speculation, it was the only device revealed and will be available in the United States starting April 10th. However, this week new rumors have emerged suggesting a bigger, better, HTC One M9+ is coming soon too.

We’ve heard rumors of a larger 5.5-inch HTC One E9 to take on the iPhone 6 Plus and Galaxy Note 4/5, but now we’re hearing a different rumor this week as well. According to @upleaks, who accurately leaked the current HTC One M9, a new and bigger HTC One M9+ is also coming, sometime in April.

Last month an image surfaced showing HTC had two phones coming, but only one was announced on March 1st. However, that leak could have still been accurate, as we’re now starting to get additional details along with images of the purported HTC One M9+. Read on for all the details, and what we know so far.

The new HTC One M9 was codenamed “HTC Hima” internally by HTC, but another device is also in the works called the Hima_Ultra. Why is it called Ultra? Because it will be even better than the new HTC One M9. According to @upleaks, the new smartphone will be announced in late March or early April, but a release date is unconfirmed.

This isn’t the first time we’ve heard about the new phone, and we’ve even found a few potential images of the new HTC One M9+ (not Plus) thanks to PocketNow. These reports claim it will be a rather impressive phone, and have plenty to offer over the One M9, meeting a demand for even more buyers.

Pictured above is a device we’re hearing is the new HTC One M9+, but we can’t be sure. It could be a prototype, a fake, or an array of things. That said, here’s what we’re hearing will be inside the new phone. It will feature a bigger 5.2-inch 2560 x 1440 Quad display, 2k resolution, dual cameras on the rear that are 20.7 megapixels and a 13MP Duo Sensor like the One M8, and a fingerprint scanner to take on the Galaxy S6, iPhone 6, and anything else released later this year.

The picture shows a device that’s clearly very similar to the HTC One M9, but has a dedicated hardware home button which looks like a Samsung, but features a fingerprint scanner for security, and the same Boomsound dual front facing speakers. We’re hearing the US model will have an 8-core Snapdragon 810 processor and 3GB of RAM like the original One M9, and the international model will have a MediaTek Octa-core processor instead.

Of course, these are all only rumors for now, and we’ll have to wait until more details or images surface, or HTC makes an announcement. For now all their focus is on the new HTC One M9 and the Uh-Oh device protection, but we could be hearing more about the HTC One M9+ in the coming weeks, or sometime next month.

Multiple leaks say HTC will announce it before the end of this month, and release the bigger phone sometime in April. This could disrupt the release of the main HTC One M9, so we’ll have to wait and see. It will be an interesting device if indeed released, so stay tuned.
