At least one carrier expects to deliver the HTC One X Android 4.2 Jelly Bean update with Sense 5 in August as French carrier SFR has attached a late August roll out to the highly anticipated software update to HTC’s flagship from last year.
Earlier this year, HTC announced that it would be rolling out the new Sense 5 to the HTC One X and a handful of other devices. Since then, the company has remained silent about timing for the HTC One X. Sense 5 is also supposed to be coming with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean though HTC has yet to confirm that to HTC One X owners.
Previously, we had heard that the HTC One X Android 4.2 and Sense 5 update would be coming to owners sometime this summer and from the looks of things, that remains a possibility.
A short time ago, we reported that French carrier SFR had hit a snag with the HTC One X Android 4.2 update and that the update had gone back to HTC for further development. Today, the carrier has issued a new time table for the HTC One X Android 4.2 Jelly Bean roll out claiming that it’s planning a roll out in late August with no specific date mentioned.
This comes after the carrier initially thought it would be delivering the HTC One X Android 4.2 update in July so the late August window should be taken with a grain of salt, even if it’s official information from a carrier.
Typically, HTC rolls out updates in batches so it could be that we see the HTC One X Android 4.2 and Sense 5 hit devices in other regions first, before making its way to France. It could also be that SFR is one of the first out of the gates, it remains to be seen.
While this is certainly not a concrete window, it still should instill confidence in HTC One X owners who are in the dark about Android 4.2 and Sense 5. HTC is still hard at work on the update and as we’ve suggested, it will likely roll out ahead of Android 4.3, the most current version of Jelly Bean that rolled out to Nexus devices in July.
