Imation Releases Speedy PRO 7000 and PRO 7500 Series SSDs

Imation announced today the release of two new SSDs with improved data transfer rates. The PRO 7000 series works with older PATA devices and tops out at 64GB for the 2.5″ standard. The PRO 7500 uses SATA II interface with capacities ranging from 16GB to 128GB. Both drives come in 2.5″ and 3.5″ sizes and are capable of 130MB/s read and 120MB/s write speeds, although the PRO 7000 PATA drives have lower input and output operations per second. The speed increase is made possible by using Mtron’s 16MB cache controller interface. Prices are still quite prohibitive at $500 for the 16GB variant.
