Instagram Now Supports the Google Nexus 7

An Instagram for Android update has brought support for Google’s Nexus 7 tablet which launched last week.

The update, which was rolled out today, not only brings support for the Nexus 7 along with it, but it also brings the ability to share photos to Flickr.

This is obviously welcome news for those that have been in possession of a Nexus 7 tablet since Google I/O or better yet, last week when the device finally became available to some of those who pre-ordered the device.

Instagram, for those that don’t know, is a photography application that allows users to simply take photos and apply filters to give them a unique look.  Users can also use their phones’ built-in camera app to shoot before applying Instagram filters and sharing them.

The Android version of the application launched shortly before Instagram was bought by Facebook for a billion dollars, but that hasn’t slowed down the updates any. In fact, the developers behind Instagram have diligently updated the Instagram for Android application over the last few months.

The Nexus 7 remains hard to find.

As for the Nexus 7, Google’s first Nexus tablet has seen a bizarre launch that continues to baffle consumers. Currently, the device is shipping out to those who pre-ordered through the Google Play Store and retailers have seen massive shortages due to demand.

It’s also unclear when the device will become widely available in stores. Currently, the device is only available online and even then, stock is scarce.

Office Depot, one of the remaining retailers with Nexus 7 stock, has sold out of the device completely. Gamestop, another launch partner, won’t see stock replenished until August.
