With iOS 9 the Apple TV acts as a tool to control your smarthome from afar, letting you remotely connect to your home automation gadgets from anywhere. Once you install iOS 10 on your iPhone and iPad you can use the iPad as that hub. If you routinely leave your iPad at home, it can act as the hub to control your devices when you are mobile with your iPhone. You'll need Homekit compatible lights, locks and more to make this happen.
