iOS 5.1 iPhone 4S Jailbreak Release Date: ‘no clue’ to ‘1 month’
When we shared the iOS 5.1 Untethered iPhone 4s jailbreak status last week, the most common question was, “When will the iPhone 4S iOS 5.1 jailbreak be released?”
Thanks to the great iPhone 4S hacking team and Pod2g, we have new information about the iPhone 4S jailbreak release date, but unfortunately it’s not concrete.
In a flurry of updates on Twitter Pod2g shared a potential timeline for the iOS 5.1 Untethered iPhone 4S jailbreak, including the ominous, “Maybe never … (!)”
Based on the updates, I’m hopeful that we are closer to the one to two month time frame, and that we might see the untethered iOS 5.1 iPhone 4S jailbreak in May.
The updates come after the Jailbreak Dream Team bypassed the ASLR, the last security bypass needed before a public iOS 5.1 jailbreak release.
ETA for 5.1 JB: no clue! We’re going to set pieces of the puzzle together this week. We could have issues… Could be 1 month maybe 2…

In the progress update Pod2g talks about pieces of the puzzle, and that’s really the easiest way to explain the progress that still needs made before a public release.
Pod2G and the hacking team have all the pieces needed to jailbreak the iPhone 4S on iOS 5.1 , but they still need to assemble a puzzle with hard to fit together pieces.
Once the team of experts assembles the pieces of the jailbreak puzzle, they need to create a iOS 5.1 jailbreak tool that can jailbreak the iPhone 4S, automatically putting the puzzle pieces in the right place on users’ iPhones.
This assembly and final stages of producing the jailbreak could bring new issues to light that delay the public release months, or longer.
I know 1 month seems long, but it’s short to work on a project like this when it’s a hobby and you’ve other things to do as well.

The jailbreak community needs to remember that the teams that release the iPhone 4S jailbreaks do so as a hobby, without pay. Pestering the iPhone hackers and berating them for taking too long on Twitter does not help and does not encourage others to join and share their findings.
What to Do While Waiting for the iPhone 4S iOS 5.1 Jailbreak
First and foremost, do not upgrade to iOS 5.1 until there is an official iPhone 4S iOS 5.1 jailbreak. Users that upgrade to iOS 5.1 will not be able to jailbreak the iPhone, losing access to all their jailbreak tweaks and apps.
If Apple pushes out a new update in the next month do not update. These updates typically patch security holes and prevent jailbreaking.
Why Jailbreak the iPhone 4S
Users love to jailbreak the iPhone 4S to install apps and tweaks that Apple will not allow. There are a number of great iPhone 4S jailbreak apps that transform the iPhone, and many reasons to jailbreak the iPhone 4S.
Apps like IntelliScreenX, shown below, are a major reason users jailbreak the iPhone 4S.
Why Not to Jailbreak the iPhone 4S
For all the reasons to jailbreak the iPhone 4S, there are a number of reasons not to jailbreak. Jailbreaking voids the iPhone 4S’ warranty, though users can un-jailbreak before seeking Genius Bar help in most cases.

Jailbreaking can also cause odd iPhone behavior, turning the normally stable iPhone into a finicky phone that crashes.

I will wait as long as it takes. I have an iPhone 4s but on 5.1 which is how it arrived. I was very annoyed at not being able to jailbreak it and get apps WITHOUT ads.

just saw the video on youtube… too afraid to download. But seemed real with good replies claiming it worked unlike so many fake ones. Haven’t jailbroke a phone before. Had an android before and LOVED the customization of the home screens, keyboards, ect. but my phone had a glitch an was time for an upgrade. Got an Iphone and would love to have themes like the android, but want a safe, legit program to jailbreak if I get brave enough to do it.

I typed the password then i got this 5.1 Jailbreak Untethered tools. When I tried extracting that file it says “no archive found”.

Saying that these dev teams work for free is a joke. Have you any idea what they earn off the back of these tools. Think about it. Nobody does anything for nothing. A few of the previous devs sold out and went working for Apple. They all have an ulterior motive.
Just think twice before thinking that these guys are saints. They probably have a fully working solution right now but are delaying the release to keep the interest huge. Such a basic technique that a lot of businesses employ, including Apple themselves.
I say bollocks to the lot of them. Jailbreaking will be pretty much dead and buried within the next couple of generation of iPhone.

I absolutely agree. The people that work on the jailbreaks are so full of crap. They act like gods and pretend they are trying to help people just for the sake of it, but they make tons of money off of it and only really care about the money and the publicity. They always have their phones jailbroken LONG before they release the public version even though, most of the time, there are no bug or problems with what they have. If they really want to help then they could maybe release the jailbreak for 5.1 before Apple comes out WITH THE NEXT iPHONE!!

The file is as is the video I downloaded the file and password when I unrar’d the file in was a vlc file of the same video that is posted on youtube.Waste of time. I’d recommend folks simply wait on pod2g and the team finish their jailbreak.

Can’t wait for the 4s 5.1 jailbreak too be released.. me being dumb updated before the jailbreak was available :( its a great thing the Pod2g is doing without pay…. as soon as the new jailbreak is out i will be leaving a generous donation :)
