iOS 6.1 Jailbreak: How to Prepare for the Jailbreak

Published

on

The iOS 6.1 jailbreak release is at hand, and there are a few things you should do to make sure the jailbreak is a smooth experience.

The evasi0n iOS 6.1 jailbreak website claims the jailbreak process should only take 5 minutes, but that doesn’t take account the preparation.

Experienced jailbreakers may be able to skip the a few of these steps, but following along will help make the jailbreak as smooth as possible. Feel free to take these steps today, or bookmark this to be ready when the jailbreak is released.

Save Jailbreak Apps and Tweaks

For users who already have an iPhone 4S jailbreak in place it’s a good idea to make a list of all the jailbreak apps and tweaks used. This will simplify the upgrade and iOS 6 jailbreak process, and will help get you up and running faster after the iOS 6 jailbreak.

iOS 6 Jailbreak - iPhone 5 Cydia - 2

Prepare for the iOS 6 jailbreak the right way.

Be sure to check that this list of iOS 6 jailbreak compatible apps in Cydia. This is the best place to go to make sure your Cydia apps will work on iOS 6.

Users on a jailbroken device can use an app like OpenBackup to backup Cydia tweaks.

Update to iOS 6.1 the Right Way

The iOS 6.1 jailbreak tool from the evad3rs will work on iOS 6.1 and on iOS 6, but it’s a good idea to upgrade before the jailbreak to get on the highest jailbreak-able version.

Planetbeing, a member of the evad3rs provides the following best way to prepare and peform the iOS 6 jailbreak.

  1. Make up a backup with iTunes.
  2. Restore the device with iTunes.
  3. Select “Set up as new device” on the device itself during the setup process after the device is restored. Do not select “Set up as new iPhone” or “Restore from this backup” on iTunes yet.
  4. Jailbreak your device.
  5. Open up Cydia for the first time to allow it to “prepare the filesystem”. Wait for the respring to happen.
  6. Start iTunes again and select “Restore from this backup” to get everything back on there.

Following these steps should prevent any iOS 6.1 jailbreak errors. While it is not common for major issues to happen during a jailbreak, and the team works hard to prevent them, it’s a great idea to backup before jailbreaking.

The iOS 6.1 jailbreak is compatible with all iOS 6 and iOS 6.1 compatible devices, including the iPhone, iPad, iPad mini and iPod touch.

Leave any other tips for preparing for the iOS 6.1 jailbreak in the comments.

Apple would make a great choice in just allowing for jailbreaks cause a good portion of their buyers want to jailbreak. If they could sale pre-jailbroken devices there market could go soaring in cash. But they want to stay simple and I respect that though I would highly suggest changing something’s as their iPhones look identical to when they first started other than minor tweaks

Hahahaha!!! There is a reason why jailbreak is not allowed by apple, and is called system stability, believe me, I know it, there is tons of people messing up their phone because they don’t know what are they doing, and of curse MONEY
