iOS 6 Concept Video Shows Streamlined Experience for iPhone

Apple will almost certainly announce iOS 6 at WWDC 2012 on June 11th.

While we have a good idea about what improvements may come to the iPhone and iPad in iOS 6, we’ve yet to see what they might look like in action.

Redmond Pie discovered an iOS 6 concept video detailing one user’s ideas of what Apple might introduce in iOS 6.

While there are a few stretches, like the ability to download any file in a finder style shelf, the concept focuses on redefining the central app experience.

Watch the iOS 6 concept video below to see what might arrive in iOS 6 later this year.

Thankfully there is now an English version of the iOS 6 concept video which makes it easier to follow along.

This iOS 6 concept focuses on a new look for Contacts, Calendar, and Videos, which now share a common look and theme across iPhone, iPad and OS X.

In Addition to the new look, there is a Music widget in the notification center. I’m not sure if Apple would bother with this since there is fast access with a double tap of the home button, but I like the look of the widget.

The nicest new iOS 6 feature shown off is a way of downloading and accessing files like .zip files and other types. The concept uses a Shelf, much like the one you see in iBooks to manage files and can open the files in appropriate apps. I highly doubt Apple will deliver a file manager in iOS.

We might see a new way of accessing multitasking apps, which the creator calls Mission Control, just like on OS X. Instead of relying on small icons, a double tap of the home button opens up a card based multitasking system, showing previews of open apps.

Noticeably, there is no new look for Maps or the rumored iOS 6 Navigation service that might finally allow iPhone users to use free turn by turn navigation like Android phones.

What features do you want in iOS 6?

What’s missing is the ability to organize contacts in groups on the iPhone. I wish it was easier to achieve that.
