iOS 7 Jailbreak: pod2g Confident for Public Jailbreak
With the iOS 7 release date arriving in days, the team behind the Evasi0n jailbreak is starting to talk publicly about an iOS 7 jailbreak.
Late on Friday the 13th, noted iOS security researcher pod2g and iOS hacker and security expert Nikias Bassen shared a conversation on twitter about iOS 7 jailbreak progress now that near final iOS 7 update is available.
pod2g and Bassen are members of the Evad3rs, the jailbreak team who delivered the iOS 6 jailbreak earlier this year along with MuscleNerd and Planetbeing.

Bassen teased he was, “Working on funny things with @pod2g :)” which elicited a response talking about jailbreak work and warning that an iOS 7 jailbreak release date is not close.
. @pimskeks being more and more confident about an iOS 7 public jailbreak ;-) [ that does not mean soon ]

The news is not a huge surprise given Planetbeing’s comments on an iOS 7 jailbreak recently, but it’s good to hear the individuals responsible for delivering a more open iOS experience are back at it on iOS 7. Planetbeing provided his own update on the iOS 7 jailbreak progress after Apple’s announcement.
Achieved unsigned userland code execution with some of our stuff in reserve. Now we have a good platform for poking the kernel.

While pod2g is speaking about the iOS 7 jailbreak, which would presumable work on all iOS 7 compatible devices, he does not specifically talk about an iPhone 5s jailbreak.
During the Apple iPhone 5s announcement last week, pod2g shared that the new Apple A7 64 bit processor could be a challenge.
64bit processor. That'll probably kill some exploits ;-)

Overall this is great news for an iOS 7 jailbreak, but as pod2g cautions, an iOS 7 jailbreak release date is not something users can expect in the near future.
Once the final version of iOS 7 arrives, the team can start to work harder on the iOS 7 jailbreak and soon after go hands on to start on the iPhone 5s jailbreak, which uses the new Apple A7 processor. New processors bring a new challenge to jailbreakers, and this year is no different.
There is a belief that no matter how fast progress is made on an iOS 7 jailbreak, the actual release will not come until Apple delivers an iOS 7.1 update. New reports indicate Apple is already at work on an iOS 7.1 update, though Apple does not typically release a x.1 update for several months.

Even with this promising news users running an iOS 6 jailbreak should not update on the iOS 7 release date unless they can go a while without access to jailbreak apps. Users should be on the watch for fake iOS 7 jailbreaks which charge users up front.

Pod2g is working with Evad3rs on discovering more exploits, and it seems they are going to blast the world with their pretty awesome ideas and hacks to over come iOS 7 security measurements.
