iPad mini 2 and iPad 5 Release Rumored for Fall

Apple is planning an iPad mini 2 with Retina Display and an iPad 5 release for late summer or fall according to the latest rumors out of China.

According to the reports from CNYes, by way of Macotakara, Apple is prepping suppliers and components for a iPad mini 2 and iPad 5 release in Q3 2013. The rumor points to calendar year Q3, July, August and September, and not than Apple’s fiscal Q3.

This is not the first we’ve heard of an iPad 5 with a redesign and a rumored iPad mini 2 with a Retina Display, but the details line up with earlier leaks.

New Apple rumors claim the company is preparing the iPad 5 release for Q3 2013.

iPad mini 2 and iPad 5 Rumors

The iPad mini 2 would reportedly use a higher resolution Retina Display, like that found on the iPad 4, but smaller. The iPad mini 2 rumors go back and forth on the inclusion of a more expensive panel, which would likely require a faster processor to push the higher resolution. The report does not include any information about what changes Apple might make to the processor if the iPad mini 2 does come with a Retina Display.

We’ve previously heard that the iPad mini would not feature a Retina Display from iMore. The Apple mobile site claims the iPad mini 2 will feature a non-Retina Display and could release the iPad mini 2 in April and not later this year.

The iPad 5 will reportedly see a makeover with a new aluminum finish. Based on this information, leaked photos and other leaks it’s safe to expect an iPad 5 with iPad mini looks. There are no other details in this report about the iPad 5, though the article warns of yield problems that could cause supply issues of the iPad 5 at launch.

The iPad mini release was staggered and stock was in short supply for a short period after the release while Apple suppliers and factories ramped up production.

The iPads mini 2 may or may not come with a Retina Display, but recent rumors suggest a Q3 release.

iPad mini 2 and iPad 5 Release Rumors

The iPad mini 2 and iPad 5 release dates and launch details are the subject of much speculation.

In the past year Apple switched from a reliable release cycle for products to one that brings new devices to market faster. While we could count on an iPad release in March or April for the past few years, this cycle is not as certain.

Apple announced the iPad 4 and iPad mini in October, soon enough after the iPad 3 that allegations of planned obsolescence were raised in Brazil.

The iPad 5 release date estimates range from April to October, with a few broader estimates in between. About the only thing these rumors can agree on is that Apple will release an iPad mini 2 and an iPad 5 at the same time and that the iPad 5 will feature an iPad 2-like design.

If Apple plans an April launch of the iPad 5 and iPad mini 2 it is surprising that invites did not go out right before the Samsung Galaxy S4 event last week, but Apple still has plenty of time to invite journalists to an April iPad event.

You don’t HAVE to buy every new thing they make, buy one and upgrade every couple of years or whenever you can afford it.

I switched from PC to iPad with iPad2. I now have an iPad Mini.
I am not sorry that I traded my obsession with tinkering for something that just works. Also, the iPad created a useful barrier against wasting time on the bleeding-edge of technology.
PS-I still have access to desktops and do use them for production work, often, but I live on-the-road, and get by well with just the iPad.
PSS-I might move back to the full-size iPad if it comes in lighter, plus, jailbreak it and add Bluetooth mouse.

i think ipad4 a replacement for ipad3 which have some uncertainties.the ipad ‘3’ doesnt exist.ipad ‘4’ is the 3rd gen ipad..the retina display(currently in store) is the ipad3 and as for the ipad mini, maybe its just an experiment to see how and what costumer wants for the upcoming ipad from various reviews. MAYBE apple are trying to recover their cycle this year. well it’s just my opinion since ipad 2 still in sale….
i never had apple product before because the specs never satisfy me. hope this year’s spec will hit my expectation.

Czer, The 4th gen iPad has a faster chip (A6X vs A5X) and a lightning plug. Both have retina displays. No major changes but you have to classify them one way or another, hence they are the 3rd and 4th generation iPads.

How do you set up your Ipad Mini if you donot have Wi-Fi coverage? And what else can you use to set up the1st Time. it’s really frustrating not to be able to use the ipad. And go the so called I-tunes set-up doesn’t work AT ALL. Who ever came up with that need to go back to school or something.
