iPhone 4 Sleeve Brings 4G WiMax Connectivity, Will This be Sprint’s Answer?

Korean Telecom KT has announced a 4G WiMax sleeve accessory for the iPhone 4, which will give the current GSM or CDMA smartphone compatibility to South Korea’s WiMax network. As 4G WiMax is also employed by Sprint in the U.S., the accessory, if Sprint adopts it, could potentially give the U.S. carrier an answer to Verizon Wireless and AT&T as both larger rivals have arrangements with Apple to offer the 3G iPhone 4 for their networks.

According to Akihabara News, the sleeve will give the iPhone 4 not only connection to a WiMax network, but also extra power through its 1500 mAh battery. The accessory is fitted like a Mophie Juice Pack, which in this case incorporates an iPhone 4 case, a battery, and also a WiMax radio. The iPhone 4 sleeve has a model name of KWF-B2500.

Now, if someone would come out with a multi-mode CDMA/EV-DO/WiMax sleeve, the iPhone 4 can hop on 2G/3G and 4G networks from Sprint and other CDMA/WiMax carriers.
