We now know that Apple is planning on talking iPhone in just a few short days at an event on October 4th which means that we should see an official release date for the iPhone 5/iPhone 4S on that date. Until then though, we’re left to whispers and those whispers, from Macotakara are pointing to an October 14th release date for Apple’s next iPhone or iPhones.
The Next Web is also hearing the same thing but they are also hearing a different release date for iOS 5 than was previously rumored. We had heard that iOS 5 might be coming out on October 10th but there is a new date to keep in mind for those of you with older iPhone models. October 12th is now another date to toss into the hat in regards to an iOS 5 roll out.
As for the release of the next iPhone, if you recall, France Telecom CEO Stéphane Richard stated that he believed the device would be out on October 15th. We’ve also heard that Apple is blacking out October 14th and 15th for employees so an October 14th release date is not far-fetched at all.
It’s still unclear what exactly Apple will be announcing at the event on October 4th. It’s possible that we could see just one iPhone model announcement but there is also talk of two iPhones, one a new model and the other, an improved version of the iPhone 4 that will be sold for cheap.
Also unknown is whether or not a carrier not called AT&T or Verizon will see the device. T-Mobile has essentially taken itself out of the running but Sprint is heavily rumored to be taking the iPhone on board for the first time.
