Apple announced today that iPhone 5C pre-orders will start on September 13th, a week before the iPhone 5C release date of September 20th. The company also seemingly confirmed that there will be no iPhone 5S pre-order, simply saying that orders would begin through its website on September 20th. The Apple Store also confirms the lack of a pre-order date.
At today’s iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C event, Apple, as expected, revealed the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C details in full. They detailed features, pricing and a specific release date for both of its new iPhone models.
In addition to confirming a September 20th release in the United States for the iPhone 5C, Apple confirmed a pre-order date for the iPhone 5C which will begin on September 13th, just five days before the iOS 7 release date and just a week before its September 20th release.

The company did not, however, announce an iPhone 5S pre-order, instead only confirming that the device will be available to order on September 20th. This is far different than years past, as the company has typically offered a midnight pre-order ahead of release.
Perhaps the company is looking to drum up attention at its retail stores on release day, perhaps it’s something else, but whatever the case, it appears that Apple won’t be taking pre-orders for the iPhone 5S.
It’s not clear if carriers will be taking pre-orders for the iPhone 5S as they have yet to announce their intentions. However, carriers and Apple have been linked in the past, so it looks like they may skip an iPhone 5S pre-order as well.
Those looking to get the iPhone 5C ahead of schedule will be able to do so. And like the iPhone 5S, it will be available to order on September 20th, just a few days after today’s event.
