iPhone 5s vs. iPhone 6 Photo Leaks Ahead of Launch

A brand new iPhone 5s vs. iPhone 6 photo has leaked ahead of today’s Apple launch event and ahead of the iPhone 6 release date that’s expected to land in September.

Apple iPhone 6 rumors have swirled for the better part of a year and finally, after a year of rumor and speculation, Apple’s fall launch event is here. Today, Apple will likely confirm iPhone 6 specs, the iPhone 6 price, and the iPhone 6 release date, key components to the launch of one of the biggest smartphones of the year.

iPhone 6 rumors though continue to swirl ahead of the iPhone 6 launch event and now, we have what appears to be the first image of a working iPhone 6 next to last year’s iPhone and Apple’s current flagship, the iPhone 5s.

This new iPhone 6 vs. iPhone 5s photo comes from a Chinese user on the micro-blogging site Weibo and its the same user that leaked out a number of early iPhone 6 videos that appear to show the iPhone 6 in action ahead of the iPhone 6 launch and release date. This new photo appears to show the 4.7-inch iPhone 6 next to the iPhone 5s and the older iPhone 5, both of which utilize 4-inch Retina Displays.

We can also see Touch ID present on board the larger iPhone 6 model mirroring the design found on the iPhone 5s. Touch ID is the fingerprint sensor that’s embedded in the iPhone 5s’ home button and a feature that brings an added layer of security and convenience. iPhone 6 design rumors have pointed to the arrival of Touch ID for a number of months now.

The 4.7-inch iPhone 6 in the picture is also noticeably larger than the iPhone 5s and iPhone 5 and it comes with thicker bezels than previous leaks showed. We cannot, however, see the back of the iPhone 6. Rumors indicate that the iPhone 6 design will feature an all metal design that’s extremely thin. Rumors have pegged it at 7mm thin though that, like the iPhone 6 itself, remains unconfirmed.

The larger iPhone 6, the 5.5-inch model, does not star in the photo-op but thanks to leaks, it’s clear that it will be much larger than the 4.7-inch iPhone 6 and thus, the iPhone 5s and the iPhone 5 as well. To compensate, Apple is reportedly planning a one-handed mode that’s baked into the iOS 8 operating system that’s set to arrive alongside the iPhone 6 later on this year.

In just a few short hours, Apple will take to the stage to confirm, and squash, many of the iPhone 6 rumors that have been floating around in recent months. Over the past few weeks, we’ve seen several iPhone 6 rumors begin to firm up and it looks like we may not have very many surprises in store during today’s event.

The iPhone 6 specs are said to include the larger displays, a new A8 processor that recently showed up in a benchmark, a new camera with image stabilization technology, a larger battery, and Apple’s brand new iOS 8 update that’s been sitting in the beta process for three months now.

Apple’s iPhone 6 release date is expected to land in September and recent rumors point to September 19th as the iPhone 6 release date. Apple is well known for releasing the iPhone around two weeks after the launch event itself and September 19th, a Friday, fits that criteria well.

That date is rumored to include both the 4.7-inch iPhone 6 and the 5.5-inch iPhone 6. 5.5-inch iPhone 6 rumors had pointed to a delayed release though it now looks like the device might join its smaller sibling in the month of September ahead of the holidays and ahead of Black Friday in late November. We should find out for sure in just a few short hours.
