iPhone Security Bug Lets You Make Calls on Locked Phone. Might Already Be Quashed in Next OS Release

Published

Looks like there’s a pretty easily reproduced security flaw in iOS 4.1 that allows someone to bypass the lock screen and have access to your phone, voicemail, call history, contacts, and with another step your photo albums. Apparently entering a random number after selecting “emergency call” at the lockscreen and then hitting a quick button sequence bypasses the security. According to some reports this might already have been quashed in the currently circulating beta of iOS 4.2. Others say no to that, so we’ll have to see how that plays out.
