Kensington iPad Case Doubles as an iPhone Charger

Published

There is no shortage of new iPad cases here at CES 2015 this week, but Kensington has debuted a new keyboard case that can also charge your iPhone.

The Kensington KeyFolio Thin X3 Plus for the iPad Air 2 includes a built-in 4,500mAh battery that can re-charge an iPhone 2-3 times over, or you can use it to charge up the iPad that’s connected to.

Furthermore, the keyboard features scissor-switch mechanical keys, which is rare on an iPad keyboard and allows for a better tactile feel when typing on the go.

When closed up, the case features a hard-shelled exterior that can protect your iPad from scrapes and accidental drops, which is ideal for those that travel a lot with their iPad and don’t want to end up with a shattered display.

It’s certainly not everyday when we see an iPad keyboard case that offers charging features other than the ability to charge the iPad itself. Most, if not all, iPad keyboard cases don’t offer the ability to charge an external device, so for those who need to give their iPhone some extra juice while out on the go, this offering from Kensington could be up your alley.

There’s currently no information on when we should expect the KeyFolio Thin X3 Plus to launch, but Kensington did say that you’ll be able to purchase the keyboard case for $119 for the iPad Air 2 and $99 for the iPad Air, which isn’t a bad price, considering that many keyboard cases sell for much higher prices than that.
