Lenovo 13-inch Yoga Tablet 2 Arrives with Windows 8.1
The new Yoga Tablet 2 from Lenovo features a 13-inch screen, runs Windows 8.1 and starts at $699. This new Yoga Tablet 2 option arrives just a month after the first set of Yoga Tablet 2 devices premiered with Android and Windows options.
Lenovo sticks with a familiar cylinder at the base of the Yoga Tablet 2, that houses a large 12,800 mAh battery and the mechanism for a fold out stand that helps this tablet live up to the Yoga name.
With the small stand that folds out from the cylinder users can prop the Yoga Tablet 2 up to watch a movie or work, type on an angle and even hang it on something for the perfect angle and placement while they work.
The new Yoga Tablet 2 with 13-inch display and Windows 8.1 goes on sale in November. This is not the Yoga with a built-in projector.
The larger screen offers an opportunity to push things ahead and Lenovo is able to pack a Quad HD display, 2,560 x 1,440 resolution, into the 13-inch Yoga Tablet 2.
The larger screen and Windows 8.1 combine with a detachable Bluetooth keyboard cover to allow for more productivity than on a basic tablet, and this also means you should be able to run many tools from work on this portable device.
The Bluetooth keyboard attaches as a cover when traveling and comes off when you just want a large 13-inch Windows 8.1 tablet to use for entertainment or on the couch.
The video below offers a closer look at the Lenovo Yoga Tablet 2 family. This starts with the Android versions, and includes the 10-inch Yoga Tablet 2, with a closer look at the keyboard.
Lenovo claims the 13-inch Yoga Tablet 2 can deliver 15 hours of battery life, and it supports on the go charging so you can charge up your phone or other gadget from the battery when the device is not on and open.
Inside is an Intel Atom Z3745 Quad Core processor, 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. Users can add up to 64GB of additional storage with a Micro SD card. This processor features Intel Burst technology, which helps ramp u the power available to users when needed, while also conserving battery life the rest of the time. There is a 1.6MP camera on the front of the device and no rear-facing camera.
There are twin chamber speakers and a JBL subwoofer in this tablet, with Dolby Audio and Master Hi-Fi enhancements that should help deliver better sound, even in a small package. The tablet includes a one year Office 365 subscription.
Users can connect with Bluetooth 4.0 and WiFi and there is a Micro HDMI port, Micro USB port and 3.5mm audio jack as well as a Micro SD card slot. The Yoga Tablet 2 weighs 2.27 pounds without the keyboard, so it’s not as mobile as the 8-inch and 10-inch options, but the screen is much larger. The Yoga Tablet 2 measures 12.8 inch x 8.7 inch x 0.2-0.6 inch.
